By Adeboye Amosu: Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike has suffered a training injury that could further delay his debut at the Spanish League club Las Palmas, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Emenike joined Las Palmas in a six-month loan agreement from Greek club Olympiacos on the last day of the winter transfer window in January and has yet to make his official debut for the club that has not had fitness for the match .
According to a statement on the club's official website, the striker has been under treatment for several days after feeling a sudden pain in his right knee during training on Thursday.
"An MRI was performed on the same night that indicated the presence of an osteochondral lesion at the level of the internal femoral condyle and the swelling of the internal lateral ligament," explained Las Palmas.
"Since then he has been under treatment to reduce the inflammatory process, given the nature of the injury, it is difficult to indicate when he will return to training, although it is expected that it will not be too long."
Oghenekaro Etebo, the other Nigerian who also joined the club on loan in January, has participated in two games since his arrival.
He was voted in the LaLiga team for the week after a brilliant performance in his debut against Málaga last week.
