By Adeboye Amosu: Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu estimated that the team is in a tough group at the 2018 World Cup Russia but supports the three-time African champions to climb the obstacle of the first round, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Gernot Rohr's men have been placed in Group D along with the two-time world champions, Argentina, France's semifinalists in 1998 Croatia and Iceland debutants at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Idowu, who made his debut with Nigeria in the 4-2 friendly international victory against Argentina in November, said it would be difficult to beat the Albiceleste again, especially with Barcelona striker Lionel Messi on the team.
"We have a difficult group, Argentina is the best team in the group and they have Lionel Messi with whom it is difficult to play, probably from another planet," he told m.sovsport.ru Idowu, who plays for the Russian club Amkar Perm.
"But we can beat Croatia and Iceland." It's a powerful group, but we can qualify for the next stage. "
The left-back also mentioned the three players he believes will be the key men for the Super Eagles in Russia.
"Obi Mikel is the leader, he won everything with Chelsea and there are also Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi with Leicester City."
The Super Eagles will open their campaign in the World Cup against Croatia on June 16 at the Kaliningrad Stadium.
